State FAQ's

Welcome to American Legion Baseball!

This is where it all begins for you in your American Legion Baseball experience, and the start of your introduction to college coaches and that whole collegiate scouting process.

There are no secrets about how the scouting process works.  It's not how much money you pay of how far you travel.  Believe it or not, coaches come to you!

College coaches don't go to batting cages.  A college coach can learn more about you during pre game as they can watching a game. Most college coaches arrive way before a game to watch you take infield / outfield, it's during this time that you will get more balls hit to you and you'll throw more than during a game.

It's about being seen. Do you think for one minute that a college coach is going to surf the internet looking for a game, and wonder if it's still being played, and if you're on the roster?  The State American Legion Baseball web site shows the most current information because it is run by team coaches.  Our software can even send a text or an email to a coach in the event of a schedule change.

College coaches want the real scoop.  Think about this,

What team will I play on?

One of the best things about American Legion Baseball is that you will play local.  The State is broken down into Zones and each town is assigned to a team in a zone.  You don't have to worry about finding a team somewhere that has openings based on enrollments.  If you live in a town that has a Legion team, you'll play in that town. And if there is no team in your town you will play for a neighboring community.  How else do you think a college coach finds you?

Will I be seen by College Coaches:

OF COURSE!  American Legion Basball is a favorite of Collegiate coaches from accross the United States.

How will I be seen?

OUR WEB SITE!  The Connecticut American Legion Baseball web site is the only web site in the country where we feature all of the Connecticut players in ONE SPOT.  Think about it for a minute, do you know hard it is for a college coach to link to all of the various summer baseball programs.  WE DO IT FOR THEM!  College scaches know that they can find players by going to one place.  www.ctlegionbball.com

How will they find me?

POINT AND SHOOT!  College coaches tend to use the quickest route to a player.  The Connecticut American Legion Baseball web site is set up for that, and it is getting larger by the day.  Pretend you are a college coach for a minute.  You want to start following a player.  The first place a college coach is going to go is where he can find a list of players.  A college coach can pick the age level he wants to scout, 15U, 17U, or 19U.  Then he looks at the State by the various locations of Zones, then he looks for players in the various towns.  How simple is that!

How long will they see me.

AS LONG AS OUR WEB SITE IS UP!  The Connecticut American Legion Baseball site has been online for many years now. We keep our rosters online, you are NEVER DELETED,  When you graduate to a higher level, we can move your records and stats with you though our online system.  If your coach keeps and posts statistics online, a college coach will see those too.  Compare us to some other sites where you're deleted every year.

How many kids from American Legion are contacted by college coaches?

Connecticut American Legion Baseball has one of the best placement records around.  Each year, college coaches contact us about our players, Many of or Zone sites are putting the names of our current college players on line for you to see.  We don't just give numbers, WE SHOW THEM.

Do I have to go to week end Tournaments?

The beauty of American Legion Baseball is that we are a known entity.  We have been around for 100 years. Why would a Connecticut College coach, travel out of State to see a Connecticut player?  Once a college coach knows who you are, it's as simple as him seeing your schedule on our website and he knows where and when to find you. We do have showcase events that college coaches know about, and they come each year.  Showcase information, locations, and rosters are printed on the State Web Site. Scores of college coaches attend and you'll see them there!

How much does it cost to play?
